DADS BLOG and Review of Oxygen Freejumping Derby - Derby Days Out Blog
Date
22nd August 2018

We're now past the halfway point of the school holidays and DDO Dad finally had some time for a Derby Day Out with the kids. Today's visit was to Oxygen Freejumping located on Pride Park.

Who went? DDO Dad, Poppy (10 months), Lola (11 years) and cousin Maya (10 years)

Why Oxygen? Free and ample parking, it's fun and exercise at the same time, lots to do for all ages

We arrived for our 1pm slot with 10 minutes to spare, quick check-in, jumping socks on feet, valuables safely tucked away into the free lockers we were whisked into the briefing room to watch a short but important safety video. Once finished the doors were flung open for us to start our hour long session.

DDO Dad had 10 month old Poppy and wondered if there would be much to do to keep her entertained whilst the older girls explored the park, but he needn't have worried. Located at the front of the freejumping zone are 'toddler trampolines' which are designated for the much smaller children; Poppy had a great time being bounced up and down or in Dads arms!

Next to the toddler trampolines is an under 5's soft play area with hundreds of colourful balls, slides, places to crawl around and hide but located next to the older activities so Dad could keep an eye on the others as well as giving Poppy the chance to laugh at the older children jumping away!

After 40 minutes of playing in the soft play DDO Dad and Poppy took off to explore the other activities on offer which included (but not limited to) Ninja Warrior assault course, total wipeout, giant airbag, professional grade trampolines, dodgeball, slides, wall climb trampolines, wall climb challenges, basketball and a variety of balance based challenges across a soft cushioned ditch!!

Once DDO Dad finally located the older girls they were sweaty, out of breath but had huge smiles on their faces as they rushed to tell him all about everything that they had been on, fallen off and completed.

Once finished there is an ample seated café selling food, hot drinks, ice creams and slushies or you can make the most of the free water fountain as you leave.

DDO Dad can't wait to go back (but without the 10 month old so he can go on everything himself!)
