This weekend saw the third Derby Mini Maker Faire hosted by The Silk Mill; DDO attended, DDO sponsored, DDO had an amazing time!
We attended a little preview party on Friday evening and was blown away by the sheer scale of the event which even extended into an outside marquee and further areas outdoors!
On Saturday we were up and ready to attend at the crack of dawn and thought we'd be one of the first people to attend when rocking up at 5 minutes past 10 ... how wrong we were! The Silk Mill and marquee were already full of people making, chatting, learning and being amazed by some technology of the past and plenty of gizmo's from the future.
We had our photo taken and a robot drew our headshots from the photo ...
Lola had her first ever taste of Mine Craft ... via Raspberry Pi ...
Lola made rope with a little help from Mum ...
We could only stay for a couple of hours and probably only made it around 20% of the stalls and workshops, the 3 of us can't wait for next year already.
Well done to Derby Musuems and whole Mini Maker Faire team for making the event such a success ... your hard work paid off. Don't forget that Derby Museums have a whole host of event on over the half-term and it's all FREEEEEEEEEEEE of charge.
Besides the Maker Faire the DDO bunch took a road trip to support The Rams at Huddersfield and celebrated a very satisfying win.
Sunday was a bit tamer with a whole day dedicated to Super Sunday which got a bit tedious in places but Natalie found ways of amusing herself (I guess prepping for Halloween) ...
Have a great week with the kids.
