Who: Ddo Mum and Dad, Lola (10) and Poppy (2 months)
What: Peter Pan, Press night
When: 5th December 2017
Where: Derby Theatre
We were all looking forward to seeing this year's festive performance of Peter Pan at Derby Theatre and it did not disappoint!
From start to finish we were entertained by the sensational sets, eye catching costumes, super songs and amazing acting.
The scene changes were colourful and flawless. The humour was perfect for all ages and had all the audience laughing along the way. The songs were super catchy. The story was engaging and had some heartwarming messages about believing and embracing your inner child.
The characters were fantastic and perfectly performed. The energy was infectious with singing, dancing - even flying- and the actors playing musical instruments, it was impossible not to be completely spellbound by the whole spectacle!
Peter Pan himself was charming, heroic and funny.
Tink was mischievous, cheeky and a great groover!
Wendy was caring, smart and loveable.
Hook was everything you want in a baddy; loud, cunning and evil mwah ha ha!!
As for the rest of characters - well you’ll really have to see it for yourself to find out!
Overall, it’s a great storyline. Even if younger audiences don’t fully follow the story - they’ll still be mesmerised by what’s happening on the stage and the energetic, fun performances.
To summarise; a great cast, a great venue and a great show for families.
It kept all of us entertained so we simply have to give it 5 stars and definitely recommend it to other families looking for a show to see this Christmas.
Lola aged 10 says: "I really enjoyed it. I liked the humour and my favourite character was Peter Pan. I think that other children my age will enjoy the show too. I loved the first song they sang; 'Never Growing up'. I wish I could download it! Can we go and see it again?" A raving review indeed from our hard to please ten year old!
Even our baby Poppy who is just 2 months old, was completely entranced by the magical show! It was a sensory delight for her little mind and we're thrilled that her first ever theatre visit was a success! Although she did cry when Hook appeared! She was either a little startled by his dramatic entrance or is just not a fan of the baddy!
