FAMILY REVIEW: Prince Stroppy Pants and the Christmas Caper - Derby Days Out Blog
18th December 2017

We love the Babbling Vagabonds productions because they feel much more intimate than the bigger shows and it feels like you can really get involved with the show and the characters.

Showing at the beautiful and traditional Guildhall Theatre, you're immediately immersed into the story of Prince Stroppy Pants himself. He's rude, ungrateful, and all round brat!

The show is performed (perfectly) by four actors all playing multiple roles. The brilliant costumes and accent changes to accommodate this are flawless and really help you follow the story.

So Prince Stroppy Pants, being the ungrateful prince he is, decides to ask for Santa's sleigh for Christmas. So his poor old dad - the King - sets off to pinch Santa's sleigh so's not to disappoint his boy. Meanwhile, back at the Palace it's all going horribly wrong and Christmas is going to be CANCELLED!!

Prince Stroppy must do something he's never done before - put others before him and try to find his Father and... save Christmas!

The very clever use of staging, lighting, shadows and puppetry help bring the story to life as we see the brave characters battle icy mountains, dark dungeons and a ferocious forest!

It's entertaining, engaging, exciting, fun, and highly recommended for families, particularly with younger children.

Once again the Babbling Vagabonds have succeeded in bringing festive cheer to the Guildhall Theatre with another fantastic family show. The songs are wonderfully catchy, (we were singing them all the way back to car afterwards!) the humour is perfect for all ages and it carries a heartwarming message too. HUZZAH! (Watch the show and you'll get this!)
