But this room is very different. For one, it needed a bigger team so we recruited some honorary DDO'ers and our final team was made up of 5 adults and one 9 year old! You can have up to ten in your team for Spellbound as it is a bigger room and age wise, our nine year old loves it but any younger than that may struggle as some of the puzzles are quite complex.
So, upon arrival, we are told the story of a 400 year old spooky local legend about two sisters who were believed to be witches. The room is in fact their woodland cabin which contains mystery, deception and of course...magic!
Now, we are forbidden to give away any information about the mysterious goings on inside the cabin but what we can say is this;
Team work is a must
Communication is key
All is not what it seems
Look, listen and think carefully
Do not waste time, she is on her way...
Spooky stuff right?! The room is incredibly atmospheric and expertly put together with perfect props and lighting. This room is different to 'The Signal' because it has individual puzzles to solve which means you can pair off and crack on with some of them, or come together as a team for others.
The fantastic MYE team are watching and listening to make sure you keep on track with the game and if they think you may need a hint, it will pop up on the timer screen. This is great because they never give it away completely, it's simply a little clue so you can still get the sense of achievement when you do eventually crack it!
A few things you might like to know: yes you can get out if you need a wee, no they don't keep you locked in if you don't escape, you get an hour to escape, no phones allowed, (free lockers are available to use) no live actors are used.
We are pleased to say that we managed to escape with just 28 seconds remaining! Phew! Every single one of the team thoroughly enjoyed it and our little Lola was quoted "the rest of half term has to be absolutely awesome to match this!"
A few of our team had never been to an escape room before and they are desperate to come again to try 'The Signal' room. So needless to say, they loved it!
