Review: We were delighted to be to invited for a game of bowling at the new look Tenpin Derby! I (Natalie) have been visiting here since I was a child and have taken Lola there a few times too so I eager to see how much had changed during the facelift!
I was stunned when I walked in - what a transformation! The biggest difference I noticed immediately was that the desk had gone, meaning a lot more space and a large arcade area.
The whole place looked fantastic and much lighter, spacious, clean and modern!
The bar area has a lovely, classy looking seating area with a big screen perfect for a watching sports on!
The arcade area has plenty of machines for all to enjoy and there is of course the fantastic 'Sector 7' laser game. Sadly we didn't have time to play this as we were enjoying the bowling too much but a big change, that I very much approve of, is the wall has been removed and now has a viewing area with seats so that you can keep a little eye on your cherubs whilst you have a sit down!
We were lucky enough to sample the food on the evening too which went down a treat! We tried burgers, waffle fries, veggie burger, chicken nuggets and fries. It was a treat and filled all of our tums! I noticed they offer platter options which would be perfect if there is a group of you going for a bowl.
The lanes have had a spruce up and the pin reset time is much quicker so less time waiting, perfect for any impatient bowlers like our ten year old!
The bowling was great fun as always and a huge bonus is you could wear your own shoes! So no more looking like a clown!
DDO Dad Adam took it very seriously as usual so he came first, Lola a very close second and of course I came last! But that didn't stop me enjoying the evening.
The arcade area is huge, bright and clean and certainly appealed to out ten year old! As it was a school night, we didn't have the time to test them out but we promised on our next visit we will let her try some of the games out!
All in all, we had a great family night out at Tenpin Derby and will definitely be back for more bowling and to play Sector 7 laser too!
