On Saturday 11th February, the DDO family visited the Guildhall Theatre to see The Giant Jam Sandwich. Here are our thoughts:
DDO Mum Natalie:
Wow what can I say – this show had everything you could ask for; great characters, great storyline, great humour, great singing, great dancing and great music! It was brilliant from start to finish. With an easy to follow story and fantastic use of props, songs, dancing and jokes; the hour seemed to fly by and after it was over I realised I had been smiling the whole way through it!
Without giving too much away, the story is about the town of Itching Down which has been plagued by millions of wasps. The villagers hatch a plan to catch the pesky wasps and get rid of them once and for all. They do this by making – yep, you guessed it; a Giant Jam Sandwich!
The show has lots of interactive parts including joining in with a very catchy song (we were singing it on the way back to car park afterwards!!)
The recommendation for the show is 3-7 years old but all of the DDO family agree that it’s still a fun show for older children, we’d say up to 10 years old.
We definitely recommend going to see this show which is on until Saturday 18th February. Find more details here.
DDO Dad Adam:
What a great show! Packed with good humour it was the perfect family entertainment, ideal for toddlers up to us big kids!
The conversation between the wasp and the bee had me laughing out loud! All in all, it was good solid family fun and a great way to kick start the half term.
I would absolutely recommend this show to other families with children aged 3-10 years old.
DDO Daughter Lola:
I really enjoyed watching The Giant Jam Sandwich because it made me laugh a lot!
I liked all of it but my favourite part was when the first loaf came out – I won’t spoil it for other children but it is funny! I also liked it when the wasps used their kazoos to buzz.
All the characters are great but Mr Bap the baker was my favourite.
I think children my age (9) and a bit older, like 10, will enjoy this show like I did.
We really hope that you find this website useful in helping you plan a family day out. Whilst we try our absolute hardest to ensure all of the information is correct and up to date, we highly recommend you call ahead of any planned visit to check opening times and prices etc. We don't want any disappointed families! (Oh and check the weatherbefore you set off!)
