INJOY DERBY - DDO REVIEW! - Derby Days Out Blog
3rd December 2019

Team DDO were invited along to try out the brand new indoor play centre in DERBY! The centre is conveniently located at the Derby Riverlights, Morledge (near Derby Bus Station) making it accessible for non-drivers as well as drivers! Parking was easy to find at the Riverlights Intu car park and from there it was around a 10 min walk from the Intu Centre to the Injoy Centre.

We were welcomed at reception by friendly faces and each given a paper band to wear. We were then shown the locker facilities (which are free of charge) and the very useful buggy parking area.

After leaving our things in the locker, we walked through to the spacious cafe area with large tables and plenty of seating. The large play area is well positioned directly in front of the café so parents have a good viewing point and there are child safety gates for peace of mind.

Available for babies and up to 12 years - The three-storey soft play area was amazing - it had slides, role-play areas, bridges, tunnels, rope climbing and fun obstacles.

Available for both children and adults – The Climbing Zone. This is situated to the right of the soft play area. Before you begin climbing, you are asked to watch a 3 min safety video, then a trained instructor will fit your harness and will clip you on and off the feature walls. There’s a great choice of feature walls, from the easier to the more challenging, including the Stairway to Heaven!

The DDO Team really loved the a 6m-high vertical slide! Team member Holly put on the orange overall and helmet and lay down in the ball-pit. Holly held on tightly to the handle-bars and once it had reached the top, she had the courage to let go and whizz down the vertical slide into the ball pit! There was a high-level of supervision to ensure the climbers are safe, and it was a pure thrill for the DDO adventurers!

Available for all – The Interactive Room is mesmerising. We haven’t seen anything like this before and it was a highlight of our visit. The DDO team aged between 8 – 10 years tried the three interactive walls. The first one we tried involved kicking a soft ball at the shapes on the wall and watch them explode! The second wall we tried had large pencils to use so you could colour in the scenery on the wall. The third wall was a picture of a child’s bedroom, the DDO team had loads of fun tapping on the different objects and watching them move! One of the special features included creating your own colourful design on a template (in our case – the unicorn) and uploading it onto the big screen!

With so much fun and activity we looked forward to refreshment in the café area, and it did not disappoint. There is a selection of delicious food and drinks on the menu and the option of creating your own freshly made food in the Pizza Oven! Seren and Holly enjoyed creating their own pizza and it was yummy!

DDO team thoroughly enjoyed their time at Injoy, it was, colourful, bright, clean and well-staffed. The layout is well thought-out and there was plenty of things to do for all ages. I have already been asked ‘when can we go back?’
