Our Learn to Swim programme takes place at Queens Leisure Centre in Derby City Centre.
We pride ourselves on delivering lessons that are safe, inclusive and effective for all ages; as dictated by the Swim England Learn to Swim Programme that we follow. This is the leading, national teaching syllabus for swimming.
On offer is a range of swimming lessons for preschool (under 5s), 4 to 11-year-old learning stages 1 – 7 and even Rookie Lifeguard Lessons for 8 years and over. The structure and progressive content of our lessons is based on a games-led approach, ensuring children enjoy learning.
Support and motivation are provided at each stage by our ‘professional and helpful instructors’; as they have been described by many parents, to help children along their learning path- new badges, certificates and even a different colour swim hat at each stage just adds to their motivation and experience. Parents can monitor their child’s progress online by registering and signing in to the online self-service portal that is available, providing a bit of peace of mind as to how your child is progressing.
We also offer lessons for adults. Anyone is welcome, whether you are a non-swimmer, nervous about water and need to build your confidence, or someone that really wants to work on their technique and develop existing skills.
For those that need extra assistance when visiting Queens Leisure Centre our pool programme is accessible for all. The building has a ramped entrance, lifts to all floors, minicom, disabled changing rooms, pool hoists and easy access steps. We have also recently launched our Dementia Friendly swimming sessions. Something we want is to allow you to continue doing what you love or give you a chance to try something completely new, in a safe and supported environment.
Classes run from Monday to Friday after school and on Saturdays.
Or call Queens Leisure Centre on 01332 641444 where one of the team will be able to assist you with and get you or a loved one set up for lessons.
