Yes, you read correctly - we are adding an extra little person to the DerbyDaysOut family!
We are delighted to announce that our new bundle of joy is due late September. We've decided not to find out whether it is a boy or a girl just because we love surprises (much to our family's dismay!) We promise to keep you posted though and will announce the good news as soon as we can.
Don't worry, we aren't going anywhere! In fact with our eldest being 10 years old now, it's good to know we have another child to take on days out when the big one doesn't want to anymore (sob!) But there's ages until that happens and in the meantime we assure you that we will continue to list the best events, attractions and clubs, keep the site updated daily and be 'your one stop site for family fun in Derbyshire!' In fact, in light of our news, we've decided to start a new 'Baby and Toddler' class section and now list events suitable for ages 0 to 16 years rather than the original 6-16 years!
Obviously we were delighted to find out we were expecting, but then the 'darker side' of pregnancy quickly made itself known. Yes you know the stuff; morning sickness, headaches, insomnia, dizziness, relentless toilet trips!! I can best describe it as feeling massively hungover, which is actually just plain cruel considering I've not touched a drop of alcohol since December! But it's all worth it so I'm not complaining for a second! The scans and hearing the baby's heartbeat just reminded me that it's worth going through a bit of discomfort!
UPDATE 1: SPD oh joy! The sickness is over but I have Pelvic Girdle Pain - cue a fantastically stylish (!) maternity support belt! It's helping loads so can't complain.
UPDATE 2: Let the waddling commence! At 34 weeks, the toilet trips are approx every 1.2 seconds, sleep is non existent and the heartburn means downing Gaviscon like it's rum and coke!!
Yep there will be a whopping 10 years between our two children and yes people do think we are slightly mad going back to sleepless nights, teething, nappy changes and...the terrible twos again! And now I've written it down, I also think we are slightly mad!! But it's just the way it's worked out and we are hoping that our eldest might enjoy being 'mummy' to the baby and understand things a bit better than if we had two close together. Plus she is rather independent now (again -sob!) so I don't have to do as much for her like get her a drink or help her get dressed. Absolute hats off to people who have a baby and a toddler - you have my utmost respect!
So you're up to date with our exciting news and we're so pleased to be able to share it with you! If you have any advice or tips (it's been a while since the last pregnancy!) please don't hesitate to get in touch: AyUpMeDuck@DerbyDaysOut.co.uk Thank you for reading and for supporting DerbyDaysOut.co.uk, we massively appreciate it.
