One of the much-loved events of The Denby Pottery Village calendar, the Summer Fete, is taking place on Sunday, 28th July from 10am to 4pm with free entry and parking.
There will be lots to entertain the family from traditional games to meeting furry friends including ponies and alpacas plus lots of wonderful food & drink.
You can buy tokens in advance at the Token Stall to take you around many of the games stalls which include Tin Can Alley, Hook a Duck and Cork Shooting with prizes to be won. For the first time toy maker Brio will have small pop up train play area.
In the craft studio you can choose from a wide selection of fun shapes to paint which you can take away on the day. This activity will take approximately 30 minutes per table and will be popular, so we hope to support everyone who wants to have a go. Prices start from £8.
Brackenfield Farm are bringing along their alpacas who love a stroll with new friends, whilst White Post Farm have a pop up mini-farm and Fudge & Co will introduce you to some unusual and wonderful creatures.
There are also ponies to ride from Pampered Ponies and the opportunity to learn all about domestic birds and parrots from ‘Parrots In Need’ Rescue charity.
The fish in Denby Koi Ponds give the utmost attention to visitors who feed them with their special Koi food. There are the Guide Dogs in training with demonstrations at selected times throughout the day.
Charity stalls include a Tombola. ‘Name the Clay Elephant’ and ‘Design Your Own Vase’ which will be made by Denby’s thrower, (please book for this rare opportunity in advance here) all in aid of Shelter and there’s also Amber Valley & District Guide Dogs, Blood Bikes and more charities with plenty of prizes to be won!
There are Face Painting and photo opportunities – be a butterfly’s face or sit in a huge deckchair and whilst you're enjoying the Village Fête, take a peek inside Denby’s Museum which is offering free access to wander around and soak up Denby’s history.
There will be food tasting and demonstrations in the Cookshop and in the Farm Shop. Alvi’s Homemade Indian Food will be selling their home-made meals ready to heat up later.
The Greedy Pig Butcher Hog Roast pop-up stall is back by popular demand and for something sweeter, there will be tempting cupcakes on Emma’s Cake Stall and delicious ice cream from Emma’s Whippy Ice Cream Van.
Bourne’s Coffee Shop & Bistro will be serving hot dishes, jacket potatoes, along with Cream Teas and takeaway refreshment options and the Farm Shop café will offer lighter bites. Music is being provided by the Shirland Miners Welfare Brass Band.
Dogs on leads are welcome visitors at Denby Pottery Village (except in the food retail areas such as the Deli and Farmshop) and please bear in mind many of the stallholders take cash only.
