An ‘a-maze-ing’ day out at Maze 52!
Located just outside of Ashbourne near Ednaston, Maze 52 is Derbyshire’s maize maze and is a brilliant family day out! Set in stunning surroundings, Maze 52 has two mazes: a mini maze and a big maze. The mini ‘musical’ maze is perfect for all ages but especially little ones. The larger maze is shaped like a tiger this year and has 12 checkpoints along the way which lead to a puzzle to solve at the end! From the moment we arrived, the Maze 52 staff were friendly and welcoming, providing us with all the information we needed to make the most of our visit and we couldn’t wait to get started!
We started with the mini maze which the children enjoyed, especially playing the musical instruments placed around the maze. Once we conquered the mini maze, we then headed for the big maze, which despite its size was suitable for all ages, and we had a great time navigating through the tall corn stalks. It was clear that a lot of thought had gone into making the maze challenging yet enjoyable, with fun clues and checkpoints along the way. We loved the thrill of trying to find our way out when had found all the clues, and the sense of achievement when we finally did!
Once we completed the maze, we enjoyed a picnic under the marquee which has plenty of chairs and picnic benches. The day didn’t end there though as Maze 52 has so much to offer making it a full day out! The children went straight to the play area next and loved exploring the brilliant range of games including a climbing frame, hay bale mountain, table tennis, sand pit, and many more! There is even a piano!
After burning off some energy in the play area, we enjoyed an ice cream from the well-stocked café which offers a good range of drinks and snacks. Once refreshed decided to explore the beautiful sunflower and wildflower walks. At the end, we paid to pick our own bunch of wildflowers which the children really enjoyed. It was great end to the day! Maze 52 is the perfect day out for all the family and has so much for children and adults to enjoy! We will definitely be going back again!
