Find out about Pangolins to mark World Pangolin Day on Saturday 19 February.  Use your expert skills of observation to find out more about these shy animals as you journey around the museum, writing down your observations as you go. LEGO Mazes Half Term (Drop-in session)

QUAD, Market Place Derby

For ages 8+

Drop in between 11am -1pm and 2pm – 4pm

Come and join us to try out some interactive mazes! 

Participants will have a first-ever test play of the artist’s work-in-progress and can explore a 3D maze in a virtual world. Participants can use LEGO to prototype a maze idea and build their interactive maze with the game engine Unity. The drop-in session aims to explore the core concept of 3-Dimensional Interaction and will provide an experience to digitise creative thinking utilising cutting edge technology. https://www.derbyquad.co.uk/LegoMazes

In this classic animated adventure from Studio Ghibli a feisty baby goldfish/mermaid called Ponyo runs away from her home in the sea, and ends up stranded on the shore, She is rescued by Sosuke, a human boy who lives on a nearby clifftop. Ponyo yearns to become human herself so that she can be with Sosuke, but many obstacles stand in her way.

Listen Love Learn

Listen Love Learn is a weekly creative programme for families with children under 5 years - led by artists Charlotte Tupper and Mandy McKirdy.

Join us at QUAD every Tuesday afternoon 12.30-2.30pm with your little ones, to engage in creative activities in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Sessions host a variety of professional visitors to give you help, advice and signpost to all things under 5’s, with the Family Health Service visiting us monthly to check in, give advice or offer support.

Join us for a fun and stimulating afternoon of conversation, creativity and sharing!

Using inspiration from local history, Artcore is a running a free family art workshop, celebrating and recreating the Allenton Hippo. Families are invited to come along, learn about the famous Allenton Hippo and create their own crafted hippo to take home with them. We will provide all materials for you!

MinecraftLAB: FUTURE FOCUS 

 

Running 3:15pm - 5:30pm in QUAD's Participation Space. 

 

Suitable for ages 8-14 years

Join us in this half term for a MinecraftLAB which will draw inspiration from the title of the Future Focus exhibition in the QUAD Gallery. On 22 February in 1997, the world's first adult mammal clone was produced by scientists in Edinburgh – creating ‘Dolly the Sheep’. In this Minecraft session we will imagine what the future may look like, with the ability to clone. MinecraftLAB’s are open events as part of QUADs Minecraft programme and focus on specific objectives.
