New Cavern Adventure opens at the Heights of Abraham for October Half Term.
The Heights of Abraham (Matlock Bath, Derbyshire) has announced their Halloween grotto will return for a second year during October half term.
The spooky grotto takes children on adventure into a specially themed Rutland Cavern that features actors, sound and lighting effects to tell a new story for 2022. Admission is by separate ticket that can be purchased on the day or in advance via www.heightsofabraham.com.
Ticket holders are met by Lady Brassington and invited to become explorers on a journey through a newly discovered time portal and into the Tomb of Treasures located underground. There they encounter a mysterious ghost from the past, and with his help, unlock a treasure chest brimming with magical delights. Each child receives a gift from the chest.
The production has been installed by the Heights of Abraham's creative team and costs £4.50 per child including a gift. Accompanying adults are admitted free. Recommended ages: 3 to 10 years.
The grotto is part of the traditional October half term fun at Derbyshire's oldest tourist attraction, which has been renamed the "Frights of Abraham" for the 9-day period. All the usual attractions, trails and facilities are open during the holiday period, including the new period costume exhibition "A Mirror on the Past", the Woodland Adventure Playground, the new willow sculpture trail and the Vista Restaurant, Treetops Café and Bar. Guided cavern tours through fascinating illuminated caverns also take place in the Great Masson Cavern throughout the day.
Rupert Pugh (Development Director) said "October half term is a great time to visit the Heights. Not only is it packed with Halloween surprises, but the Hilltop Park has a real Autumnal glow about it. We've added more attractions this year than ever before, and if you haven't visited yet this year, we'd love to welcome you before we close for the winter on November 6th".
The Frights of Abraham runs from 22nd to 30th October inclusive. Cable cars to the summit start at 10.00am each morning, Tickets for the cable car ride provide free access to all the attractions on the 60 acre site apart from the grotto, which is by separate additional ticket.
The Heights of Abraham is open daily until 6th November, when it will close for the usual winter maintenance, before reopening in mid-February in 2023.
