Panto season has arrived in Derby with a bang! - Derby Days Out

Panto season has arrived in Derby with a bang!

Panto season has arrived in Derby with a bang! Last night saw the opening of Derby’s 2025 panto, Dick Whittington. The Little Wolf production did not disappoint with many returning fan favourites, and this year’s star guest is Corrie’s own Wendi Peters as Queen Rat.

The panto tells the story of Richard ‘Dick’ Whittington, a down-on-his-luck Derbarian heading to London to make his fortune, with the talented Kristian Cunningham returning to the stage again this year, this time in the titular role. The fabulous Nicola Martinus-Smith also returns as Fairy BowBells, offering a sprinkling of joy and magic, complementing Peter’s wicked and cunning Queen rat perfectly.

As always, the casting is spot on with brilliant vocals and charming characters, completed by Morgan Brind’s Dame - this year singleton and receptionist Mabel. Brind’s quick wit, comic timing and ability to pull a gag out of thin air guarantees a laugh-out-loud experience for all the family and one you won’t want to miss this Christmas. The jokes keep coming and are the perfect blend of classic, slapstick comedy and local banter.

The production is brought to life by eye catching costumes, dramatic staging, and clever choreography. The songs are expertly chosen with an array of modern pop and classic tunes to get the audience’s toes tapping, performed by a fabulous live band.

The show runs until 31st December 2025 and is a must-see this festive season.
