Derby Theatre is a Learning Theatre. This means that our doors are open for everyone to learn, including the next generation of actors and theatre makers.
In 2020, we launched a new company for 17 -25 year olds that works with professional practitioners to explore the ingredients that create exceptional theatre.
We’re not just looking for ability, but for people interested in developing their skills and working as an ensemble to bring ideas to life through play and experimentation.
This free opportunity is targeted at young people who face financial barriers.
Fair access to working in the arts remains one of the most urgent issues facing the sector today, with those from lower socio-economic backgrounds still vastly underrepresented.
Derby Theatre wants to make a difference in this area, so that the art we make is not just outstanding, but relevant to the widest possible audiences.
