Soul Deep – SoulDeep Jazz, Funk & Soul Experience ft Jamie Joseph – mixing Herbie Hancock, Anderson Paak, James Brown, Donny Hathaway and more!! featuring The Amalgam Horns, Jamie Joseph and Robert Dimbleby. Formed in 2008 by Derby jazz/funk drummer George Grignon with the objective of performing music inspired by Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, The Brecker Brothers, Weather Report, James Brown and the like! The current SoulDeep lineup features the amazing dual vocals of Jamie Joseph and Tanisha Denny, PLUS rising star keyboardist Rob Dimbleby and the UK’s hottest young horn section “The Amalgam Horns” The band is rounded out by top local guitarist Rich Belfitt and the smooth bassist Andy Barrett. Sally Doherty – While sometimes described as a Jazz circuit singer, Sally Doherty’s repertoire is actually more of an eclectic journey from folk alternative to soulful jazz. Inspired by unusual vocal performers, like Yma Sumac and Diamanda Galás, Sally Doherty began experimenting with performance art and with singing and composing as part of a visual film-based media. In complete contrast, when at home she was listening to jazz and latin music and gaining a lifelong passion for the recordings of Chet Baker, João Gilberto and Astrud Gilberto performing Jobim songs, Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Sarah Vaughan and Julie London as well as admiring the songwriting and voices of Scott Walker, Jacques Brel, Tom Waits, Sandy Denny and Nick Drake to name just a few.
Galivantes – an eight piece Ska/Punk band from Manchester, Galivantes are a unique swing, electro swing, ska, punk and gypsy band playing live music and club nights across the North West. Possibly best described as a blend of The Pixies and Sublime, mixing strong driving beats with fiery vocals, crunching guitars, funky bass, and a chaotic cacophony of brass, all wrapped up around a politically charged power-to-the-people message.
Big Sur – With all six of the bandmates from the Peak District, Big Sur has an enigmatic sound with real energy. They will be sure to delight playing soulful rock originals with plenty of eclectic covers, like Tom Waits, Eric Bibb and Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland.
