Derby, like many cities, has a history of some amazing buildings and architecture, many having a significant historical value.
Through this year’s theme of architecture, we will be exploring some of these images held in our extensive archive, which holds over a million images.
See the changing face of Derby, not just through photographs from the start of our business, but those from more recent times; the newly built Royal Infirmary juxtaposed with the building of Willington power station, similarly the Arboretum juxtaposed with images of River Gardens.
You will be able to tour our Victorian building, which is an architectural jewel in itself. See the original showroom, first and second-class waiting rooms, original daylight studio, in addition to the rooms which were home to backroom functions, such as retouching and framing.
Our knowledgeable volunteers will be on hand to provide information about each room, and QR codes* provide an additional level on information about specific objects or rooms.
*Please note you will need your mobile phone and earpieces to use this additional feature.
