Experience two weeks of world-class opera, music, jazz and literature as the acclaimed Buxton International Festival returns to the Derbyshire spa town this July.
Celebrated internationally for its exceptional artistic programme, the festival presents a rich mix of opera productions, classical concerts, jazz performances and author talks featuring some of the biggest names in the arts and public life.
Opera highlights include Verdi's La traviata, Lehár's The Merry Widow, Handel's rarely performed Amadigi di Gaula, Mozart's La clemenza di Tito, Viardot's Le dernier sorcier and La liberazione di Ruggiero, the first known opera composed by a woman.
Classical music lovers can enjoy performances from The Hallé, Isata Kanneh-Mason, the Brodsky Quartet, Peter Donohoe, Roderick Williams and Joseph Middleton, Steven Isserlis and Connie Shih, among many others.
The Book Festival welcomes an impressive line-up of speakers, including Andrew Graham-Dixon, Lady Hale, Sir Nick Clegg and Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales.
Jazz fans can look forward to a programme curated by BIF Jazz Director Wesley Stephenson, featuring headline performances from Courtney Pine CBE, The Darius Brubeck Quartet, Laura Jurd, The Fergus McCreadie Trio and The Easy Rollers.
